Now the best thing you can do when you do get a referral, is send the referer a hand written thank you note and a small gift. Another very effective method you can employ is a strong LinkedIn profile. You don’t need a fancy website. In fact, a website is going to take you down a dangerous path. LinkedIn is a place where business people gather in mass. There are many LinkedIn groups you can participate in. The groups should be based on your client profile. Participate in the groups that resonate with you. If you collect coins, join groups that talk about coin collecting. What happens is that, many of the people you connect with will view your profile. If you have followed my instructions, the people that need bookkeeping services will come to you. When you ask to connect with someone on LinkedIn write a note as to why you asked to connect with them and possibly chat so that you can learn more about what they do. It’s always about them. Another method is a Facebook Fan Page. The same approach applies as in LinkedIn. Join groups that resonate with you. Establish relationships with your Facebook friends and ask them to Like your page. Twitter, Google plus and Instagram can also be effective. Don’t try to do all of them. Focusing on one or two of them will be sufficient.

Now here is the real key to your methods – provide relevant information, consistently. Believe it or not I’ve found the people like a good, relevant quote with an excellent picture works well to get people’s attention. Notice the quotes in this article. Success is a habit. You do it all of the time. Persistence pays off. If you’re great at swimming, talk about swimming. Make sure you have current, valuable information about your bookkeeping business included in your social media accounts and always invite your to the prospects to have a chat.

One last MAJOR piece of information that will help you- attract loads of qualified prospects – Be a teacher!!! That’s right, teach everything you know about bookkeeping on whatever platform you feel comfortable with. You can write a book, do public speaking or create a blog. The people that are hungry for knowledge will be your best clients and they will find you.
